Kombucha is fast becoming a popular drink to the unique marketing campaigns that companies use to make these drinks famous. Kombucha, for those who don’t know, is a fermented green or black tea drink that rose to popularity because of its supposed health benefits.

Many people would refer to it as mushroom tea because of the fact that kombucha is made using SCOBY culture, which is the bacteria or the yeast that is used to ferment the drink.

The prices of kombucha have risen dramatically in the past few years, and many people often look for alternative solutions.

One of the best things you can do is make the kombucha all by yourself. Making kombucha isn’t difficult. You are just going to need some essential items of your own, and you can just put them in a glass jar to make the kombucha.

However, if you let the drink ferment in a carpeted room, you should know that there is always a risk that the kombucha might fall on the floor, and this could cause stains to appear on the carpets.

Carpet Stains

To simplify matters, you should know that kombucha does stain the carpets. Like many other colored drinks, kombucha could leave permanent marks on your carpet, and it is going to be very difficult for you to get them out on your own.

Like all other carpet stains, you should know that the key here is to act as quickly as possible. If you do not act quickly enough, the stain is simply going to set in, and this is going to be virtually impossible to remove all on your own.

How Do I Get the Stains Out?

Before you try any of the dedicated methods given below, it might be a wise idea to use the same strategy that you would to get the stain out of your clothes.

Obviously, you can’t put the carpets in the washing machine, so the first thing to do is dab the stain with a clean cloth that has been dipped in water.

See if that loosens up the stain a little bit and helps you get it out. If that doesn’t work, you might want to mix a tablespoon of liquid washing detergent with a tablespoon of distilled white vinegar.

Then, add two cups of warm water into the mix to dilute the whole thing, and then apply it gently on the stain.

Use a clean microfiber cloth to try and get the stain out. It’s a pretty effective method that usually works. However, if the stain is old and dry, you might not be able to get it out so easily.

If the stain has dried and has gotten old, you might want to rub on it using the detergent. Then, soak the stained part of the carpet with a bit of water and let it rest for at least half an hour.

Afterward, just use a clean cloth and dab on it to try and get the stains out. However, because kombucha stains are generally quite firm, it will be difficult for you to get it completely out.

Here’s what you need to do if the stains don’t come out using these traditional methods.

Get a Carpet Stain Remover

One of the most effective options available to you is to get a carpet stain remover. Carpet stain removers are commonly available, but you have to make sure you buy one that doesn’t contain lots of harsh chemicals, which could cause permanent damage to your carpets.

A common mistake that many people make when it comes to using a carpet stain remover is that they tend to rub it harshly on the carpets. If you have just dropped the kombucha on the carpet, the first thing that you need to do is get a white rag or lots of kitchen tissues, and put them on the carpets.

Don’t make the mistake of rubbing these tissues on the carpets because it’s just going to spread the liquid to a greater part of the carpet and make things worse. Instead, you need to be incredibly gentle with the whole thing, and you have to make sure that you just place the kitchen tissues on the carpets.

Wait for the liquid to be absorbed by the tissues before replacing them with another one. The more of it that you are able absorb, the less you will have to worry about cleaning up. Once you are done, the next step is to pour some of the carpet stain remover on the carpet.

Give it a couple of minutes so that the carpet stain remover has had time to penetrate deep into the fibers, and then use a rag or more tissues to blot out the stain.

Remember, there is absolutely no need for you to rub on the stain; it is important that you only blot it carefully. This is going to help reduce the intensity of the stain, and in some cases, get it out.

Remember, if your carpets are white and you pour kombucha on it, the chances of getting it out using conventional methods are incredibly slim. The only option available to you would be to call in the dry cleaners or send the carpets to them, especially if the color difference is so massive.

Using Vinegar and Baking Soda

If you don’t have a conventional carpet stain remover in your house, there are a few other common materials that you can use to clean the stains.

Both the baking soda and distilled white vinegar are generally found in almost all houses, and you can use those not just to get rid of the stains, but also to get rid of the foul smell that may penetrate the carpets.

If you have just dropped the kombucha on the carpets, the first step is to dry it out as much as possible. Same as before, you need to start off by first blotting the stains.

Just put as many kitchen tissues on the stains as possible so that the kombucha is dried off before you start with the next step.

Now, you need to pour on the baking soda, and use a clean rag to rub it gently on the stained area. Baking soda has the unique ability to get stains out because the stain particles tend to stick to these fibers, and once dried, you can just suck it out using a vacuum cleaner.

You need to leave the baking soda on the stain for at least a half hour, and then use a vacuum cleaner to get it all out.

If the stain isn’t permanently removed, you will still see a sharp reduction in the overall intensity of the color. Then, another option is to pour the distilled white vinegar on it and wait for it to dry for a bit.

You can use the same rag to blot out the stain and wait for it to dry. It might not be enough to get the whole stain out, but you will notice some major progress and a massive reduction in the intensity of the color.
